Boundary Layer ClimatesParameter source

Where: Table 1.1, Radiative properties of natural materials, p. 12

The leafed row under deciduous forests gives albedo 0.20 and emissivity 0.98. The table itself cites Sellers (1965), List (1966), Paterson (1969), and Monteith (1973) collectively.

The Surface Urban Energy and Water Balance Scheme (SUEWS): Evaluation in Los Angeles and Vancouver.Later compilation

Where: Table 2(a), model parameter values by surface type, p. 223

The Decid. trees emissivity cell is 0.98 with footnote f; footnote f cites Oke (1987).

Surface Urban Energy and Water Balance Scheme (SUEWS): Development and evaluation at two UK sitesLater compilation

Where: Table 2, original and adjusted albedo values and emissivity values, p. 8

The DecTr row prints emissivity 0.98, and the table note says Ja11 emissivity values were used for the UK sites where no additional information was available.

Assessment findings

Namesupported
Oke Table 1.1 includes a deciduous, leafed forest surface, matching the record's deciduous-tree identity.
Targetsupported
The value is a surface emissivity for leafed deciduous forest and applies to land_cover.dectr.
Valuessupported
Table 1.1 gives emissivity 0.98 for leafed deciduous forest, exactly the stored value.
Sourcesupported
Ward 2016 compiles the 0.98 from Järvi 2011; Järvi Table 2 footnote f points to Oke 1987. Oke is the earliest directly checked publication that prints the exact leafed-deciduous 0.98 value.
Placesupported
Oke Table 1.1 is a table of natural-material radiative properties, not a Swindon measurement; generic is the supported place scope.
Representativenesssupported
The table gives a general leafed-deciduous forest value, supporting generic rather than city representativeness.
Methodsupported
The record adopts the tabled literature value without a new fit, so literature is the applicable method.
Identitysupported
The stable legacy path, ID and historical Swindon origin remain intact while the active source and scope now identify the published generic surface value.

Scientific note

Ward et al. (2016) is a later UK application table, and Järvi et al. (2011) is itself a compilation for this value: its Table 2 footnote f cites Oke (1987). Oke Table 1.1 directly gives 0.98 for leafed deciduous forest, making Oke the earliest checked publication that states the exact value. Oke records Sellers (1965), List (1966), Paterson (1969), and Monteith (1973) as collective table sources, without assigning the leafed-deciduous cell to one of them; that unresolved primary-data chain is documented, not invented. The record therefore cites the directly readable Oke table as literature evidence and has generic active scope; its stable path, historical Swindon origin, legacy ID and value remain unchanged.
