Boundary Layer ClimatesParameter source

Where: Table 8.2, Roads—Asphalt, p. 281

Gives Asphalt-road albedo 0.05–0.20 and emissivity 0.95. The table lists Threlkeld (1962), Sellers (1965), van Straaten (1967), Oke (1974) and Arnfield (1982) collectively, without assigning this cell to an individual earlier source.

Where: Table 2, Paved column, epsilon_i, p. 2463

Gives Paved epsilon_i = 0.95 with superscript a; the table caption identifies a as Oke (1987). The table is used for the Xujiahui 500 m and 80 m source areas, so it is a later Shanghai application.

Assessment findings

Namesupported
Asphalt roads is the exact Oke Table 8.2 surface category for the stored emissivity.
Targetsupported
Asphalt road surface emissivity belongs to the SUEWS paved land-cover class.
Valuessupported
Oke Table 8.2 gives emissivity 0.95 for Roads—Asphalt, exactly matching the stored value.
Sourcesupported
Oke is the earliest directly checked publication that prints the exact Asphalt-road value. Ao et al. later reuse it in their Shanghai SUEWS parameter table.
Placesupported
Oke's general urban-materials table is not a Shanghai observation, so generic is the supported place scope.
Representativenesssupported
The table offers a general Asphalt-road material value, supporting generic rather than site scope.
Applicable Scalesupported
The table's road-surface value applies to a paved SUEWS land-cover class, not to the complete Xujiahui neighbourhood.
Methodsupported
The record adopts the tabled literature value without a new Shanghai measurement or fit.
Identitysupported
The stable path, Shanghai origin and legacy ID retain the migrated Ao application-row identity; the name now states Oke's exact Asphalt-road category and does not recast it as a Shanghai determination.

Scientific note

Oke (1987) Table 8.2 directly gives 0.95 for Roads—Asphalt. Its listed earlier sources are collective, not cell-specific, so no earlier work can be claimed as the exact source without further evidence. Ao et al. (2016) Table 2 reuses this value for the Paved SUEWS column in a Xujiahui model application. The record therefore cites Oke as literature evidence with generic scope; Shanghai remains only the historical origin and Ao reference of legacy row 40241259. The stable path, origin, legacy ID and value remain unchanged.
