Surface Urban Energy and Water Balance Scheme (SUEWS): Development and evaluation at two UK sitesParameter source

Where: Section 4.2.2 and Table 2, original and adjusted building albedo, p. 8

Explains the observational comparison and publishes the manual adjustment from 0.15 to 0.12 used at the London and Swindon evaluation sites.

Assessment findings

Namesupported
The label identifies the published parameter class or model configuration.
Targetsupported
The source uses the parameter for the same SUEWS target represented by the record.
Valuessupported
Table 2 reports the original building albedo 0.15 and the adjusted value 0.12 used in both simulations, matching the stored value.
Sourcesupported
Ward et al. (2016) directly publishes and explains the adjusted 0.12 value, so it is the parameter source rather than merely a later compilation.
Placesupported
The place agrees with the source scope or is explicitly generic.
Representativenesssupported
The record is classed site, matching the paper's use of the value at the central London evaluation site; the publication does not establish city-wide evidence reach.
Applicable Scalesupported
The adjusted scalar is assigned to the SUEWS Building surface class, supporting application at the land-cover class scale within the evaluated site configuration.
Methodsupported
Section 4.2.2 describes a manual observational calibration: Ward et al. lowered building albedo from 0.15 to 0.12 after comparing modelled and measured bulk albedo at the two sites.
Identitysupported
Stable path, target, source and values identify one retained database record.

Scientific note

Ward et al. (2016) is the direct source for this value. The authors manually lowered building albedo from 0.15 to 0.12 in response to the observed bulk-albedo comparison and tested the adjusted configuration at the two sites. The method is therefore fitted in the database's broad calibration sense, not literature compilation and not a claim of formal regression. The London record remains site-scoped, with applicable scale land cover; its value and stable path are unchanged.
