Fills the albedo slot. The record declares target snow, name Snow, place montreal-suburban, representativeness site, source jarvi2014 and method fitted, and carries snow_albedo_min and snow_albedo_max. Its stable path and origin retain legacy Helsinki migration text.
Fills the emissivity slot. The record declares target snow, name Snow emissivity, no place, representativeness generic, source jarvi2011 and method literature, and carries narp_emissivity_snow. Its stable path and origin retain legacy Helsinki migration text.
All four legacy OHM condition fields point to legacy ID 50240016. The stable record declares target ohm_coefficients, place montreal-suburban, representativeness site and source jarvi2014, and carries a1 0.25, a2 0.6 and a3 -30. Its path and origin retain legacy Helsinki migration text.
| Composite identity | supported The composite's name reads Not used, its place reads se-england and its origin reads SE England. Read with those fields the label says what the entry is, a snow parameter set held for SE England that the study it cites did not use. It says nothing about which components were chosen, which is dealt with under place. |
|---|---|
| Composite target | supported The composite declares target snow and both components declare target snow. Snow records carry no attaches_to field; in this database attaches_to appears only on the profile records under records/profiles/, so the slot check rests on the parameter names each component carries. The albedo slot takes the record holding snow_albedo_min and snow_albedo_max and the emissivity slot takes the record holding narp_emissivity_snow, so each slot receives a component declared for it. |
| Own parameter values | supported The composite asserts eleven parameters of its own, from radiation_melt_factor 0.001 to temperature_rain_snow_threshold 2.2. None of them is a field either component supplies, so the assembly overrides no component value. Whether ward2016 supports those eleven scalars belongs to the composite's own evidence assessment. Separately, all four legacy OHM condition fields point to ID 50240016, represented by records/ohm/helsinki--jarvi2014--snow; that binding stays in the legacy block and does not enter the assembled fragment. |
| Composition rationale | not applicable The composite claims no composition rationale. Its source field, ward2016, attributes the parameter block the composite asserts itself. Neither component declares that key: albedo declares source jarvi2014 and emissivity declares jarvi2011, so the exported fragment carries its optical properties under those IDs while the eleven asserted scalars carry ID ward2016. What follows from that split is recorded under place. |
| Place applicability | curation required The composite declares place se-england. Its albedo component declares montreal-suburban and its emissivity component is placeless, so an SE England snow set publishes one value pair from a Montreal site and one generic inherited input. Its legacy OHM fields also point to a triplet fitted at the Montreal Pr site and subsequently applied across sites. The database holds records/snow/se-england--ward2016--albedo, an archived application configuration that declares place se-england and representativeness regional, carries snow_albedo_min 0.18 and snow_albedo_max 0.80, and is referenced by no archetype; it would fill the albedo slot without claiming Ward et al. as its parameter source. There is no SE England snow emissivity record, and records/snow/helsinki--jarvi2014--emissivity is the only snow emissivity record in the database, so the emissivity slot has no local alternative. Re-pointing the albedo slot alone would leave a deliberate generic input but remove the Montreal transplant. A maintainer has to decide whether the two transplants are deliberate stand-ins or a mis-selection. |
| Representativeness | curation required The composite declares representativeness regional. The albedo component declares site, below the composite's scale, while the emissivity component declares generic, above it. The OHM record referenced by the legacy condition fields also declares site, below the composite's regional scale. The unused archived records/snow/se-england--ward2016--albedo is classed regional, so for the albedo slot the class gap and the place gap would close together, although it would also replace the current 0.18/0.85 literature pair with the archived 0.18/0.80 configuration. The emissivity slot has no regional snow record to take. This rides on the decision recorded under place rather than being a separate defect. |
| Slot and season mapping | supported An assembly of two existing records into the albedo and emissivity slots, and assembled is the method a composition sidecar takes. The composite also asserts eleven scalars directly, which docs/FORMAT.md sanctions for the snow entries; those values are reviewed as the composite's own evidence, not here. |
| Completeness and uniqueness | supported The composite fills both slots the snow archetypes use and is the only SE England snow set in the database. Its uses block is identical to those of archetypes/snow/helsinki--snow and archetypes/snow/suews--no-snow, the same two records in the same two slots, while the eleven scalars it asserts differ from theirs, snow_density_max 450 against Helsinki's 400 and tau_refreezing_snow 0.02 against 0.043 among them, so these are distinct entries that happen to share every component. The one remaining snow record, records/snow/generic--kawai2009--thermal-layers, carries an empty parameters block with everything in legacy, so no slot is missing on its account. |
The mapping is internally consistent, in that the albedo slot takes the record carrying snow_albedo_min and snow_albedo_max, the emissivity slot the record carrying narp_emissivity_snow, and both components declare target snow. The selection does not match what the composite claims about itself. archetypes/snow/se-england--not-used declares place se-england, representativeness regional and source ward2016, then takes a site-classed albedo component from Montreal sourced to jarvi2014 and a generic, placeless emissivity component sourced to jarvi2011. The assembled fragment shows the split plainly: snow_albedo_min 0.18 and snow_albedo_max 0.85 arrive under ID jarvi2014 described as montreal-suburban, site, narp_emissivity_snow 0.99 arrives under jarvi2011 described as generic, while the eleven scalars the composite asserts arrive under ID ward2016 described as se-england, regional. A separate legacy binding does not enter that assembled fragment: all four OHM condition fields point to the same Montreal-site triplet under legacy ID 50240016. Two readings fit and the files do not decide between them. The first is that the arrangement is deliberate: the composite is named Not used, so the whole set may be a placeholder whose transplanted components were deliberately retained. The second is that the albedo slot should use the archived SE England configuration, since that record matches the composite on place and regional class and is referenced by no archetype at all. It does not provide independent literature evidence: it is now correctly marked unreferenced and assumed, and selecting it would change the assembled albedo maximum from 0.85 to 0.80. The choice is not free either way: no SE England snow emissivity record exists, but the remaining emissivity is now correctly identified as generic rather than Helsinki evidence. A maintainer should settle the albedo selection knowingly.
