Applies to: parameters.g_max, parameters.g_k, parameters.g_q_base, parameters.g_q_shape, parameters.g_t, parameters.g_sm, parameters.th, parameters.tl, parameters.kmax
Where: Appendix A, Equations A1-A5 and derivation paragraph, p. 28, 29
Defines the response functions; sets Kmax to 1200, TL to -10, TH to 55 and the paper's wilting-point deficit to 120 mm; and states that non-linear least squares supplied G1-G6 from Swindon data while aiming for coefficients that were as generic as possible.
Where: Appendix A, Table A1, p. 29
Publishes G1 3.5, G2 200, G3 0.13, G4 0.7, G5 30, G6 0.05, TL -10, TH 55 and Kmax 1200, plus a separate 120 mm wilting-point deficit that is not stored directly as s1 or s2.
The article is the original parameter publication for the six fitted response coefficients and the three fixed radiation and temperature limits, but it does not state s1 5.56 or s2 0.
Applies to: parameters.s1, parameters.s2
Where: SUEWS_Conductance, row 5, code 200, cells A5:N5
The static workbook cells contain the full tuple, including J5 s1 5.56 and K5 s2 0; N5 labels it New coefficients - Use with gsChoice = 2 (HCW 18 Jun 2015). The downloaded workbook bytes have SHA-256 e1a34632b0ab6b1aa379b8329a92ee584d130f54941c3d9eeca3e3303cde1d42.
Where: V2016a SUEWS_Conductance.txt, code 200
Independently preserves the same code 200 tuple and description in the pinned flat input artifact.
The release configuration is the direct, exact source for the two implementation cells in the SUEWS conductance tuple. It does not establish that they encode the paper's 120 mm deficit.
| Name | supported Ward et al. present the new generic surface-conductance parameterisation, and the release workbook labels its code 200 tuple for use with gsChoice 2. |
|---|---|
| Target | supported Appendix A defines the conductance response functions and the release workbook places the tuple in SUEWS_Conductance for gsChoice 2. |
| Values | supported Ward Table A1 supports g_max, g_k, g_q_base, g_q_shape, g_t, g_sm, th, tl and kmax. The pinned v2016a workbook supports the complete implemented tuple and is the direct source for s1 5.56 and s2 0. No value is changed. issue #104 |
| Source | supported Parameter-level provenance now keeps Ward et al. as the source for the nine values they publish while identifying the v2016a release artifact as the source for s1 and s2. issue #104 |
| Place | supported The coefficients were informed by an empirical fit to Swindon data, now recorded as the origin, while the authors explicitly aimed for a generic parameterisation. |
| Representativeness | supported Ward et al. state that the Swindon-informed coefficients aim to be as generic as possible and set the fixed limits to span a wide range of environmental and climatic conditions. |
| Method | supported G1-G6 were obtained by non-linear least squares after Kmax, TL, TH and the 120 mm paper threshold were set. The canonical method overrides therefore mark th, tl and kmax as assumed; s1 and s2 are also implementation choices stated by the release artifact rather than fitted coefficients from the paper. |
| Identity | supported Workbook code 200 contains the exact eleven-value tuple and identifies it for gsChoice 2, supporting the stable path and legacy ID without changing either. |
Ward et al. publish six fitted response coefficients and three fixed limits, but express soil-moisture limitation with a 120 mm wilting-point deficit rather than the s1 and s2 fields stored by SUEWS. The authoritative v2016a workbook maps the proposed gsChoice 2 parameterisation to code 200 with s1 5.56 and s2 0. This change preserves the released model tuple and makes that mixed provenance explicit instead of attributing artifact-only cells to the paper or presenting them as an exact encoding of its 120 mm deficit. It also records Swindon as the observational origin while retaining the source-supported generic application scope.
